Donation FAQ
Here are some of the questions we are asked most often by you before making your donation.
Is my gift tax deductible?
Yes. An official tax receipt will be issued for the amount received by The Meaford Hospital Foundation within the given tax year.
How do I donate?
You can donate in many ways! Donations can be made through the Meaford Hospital Foundation. You can also choose cash, cheque, Visa, Mastercard or preauthorized payment plan.
How will this equipment help us to recruit doctors?
With your donations, purchasing new technology will help us recruit doctors to our area. Medical school graduates see digital technology as standard equipment and they locate to areas where it is available for them to use. As well, family doctors will also be able to utilize this equipment to ensure the best patient care possible. Recruiting and retaining top health care professionals at all levels is becoming an increasing challenge for all hospitals, especially in the rural settings like Meaford. With your ongoing support our recruitment and retention helps us to be able to offer a quality work setting with equipment to deliver the best possible patient care, close to home.
Isn't there any government funding available for this?
There is no government funding provided to our hospitals to purchase capital equipment or renovations. Yes, the Ontario Ministry of Health has committed to providing $800,000 annually to the MRI for the region. This money is committed to the operational costs. Therefore, when new capital equipment is required by the Meaford Hospital, the Meaford Hospital Foundation must raise these much needed funds to purchase this new equipment and technology.
After the work is done, equipment in place, what will it do for me it couldn't do before?
Equipment plays a critical role at Meaford Hospital. It allows doctors, nurses and technical staff to offer the latest in tests and procedures to patients from across the Meaford area. A well-equipped Hospital also saves patients from having to travel to larger centers for medical care, and it helps us to recruit and keep doctors and other medical professionals local.
