Position Description:

Executive Director Meaford Hospital Foundation

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Meaford Hospital Foundation Chair and Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for the planning and implementation of fundraising activities and the management of Foundation budgets and financial goals. A dedicated fundraising professional responsible for building strong and productive relationships to maximize revenue generating opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Community Engagement
  • Lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Foundation’s philanthropic initiatives in collaboration with the Board Chair and Directors​
  • Champion our mission with regional community to identify and cultivate new opportunities
  • Research funding sources, oversee the development of fundraising plans and write funding proposals to increase fundraising revenues
  • With a focus on donor relations, engage, cultivate, solicit, and steward prospects to create momentum and to support a culture of donors who feel connected, valued and informed
  • Provide Foundation brand management
  • Actively participate in fundraising activities and represent the Foundation at community events to enhance our community profile
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with Grey Bruce Health Services staff, physicians and volunteers. Work closely with staff from Grey Bruce Health Services to identify fundraising needs, and communicate those needs to volunteers and donors

 

Leadership
  • Act as a professional advisor to the Board of Directors about all aspects of the Foundation’s activities
  • Develop strategies to address both threats and opportunities in order to remain competitive in fundraising market
  • Represent Meaford Hospital Foundation on the Five Foundations Committee and collaborate with the other (4) foundations supporting Grey Bruce Health Services
  • Oversee and ensure quality day-to-day delivery of Foundation programs
  • Recruit, train, oversee and recognize contributions of volunteers. Support and maintain involvement of directors and volunteers in Committee work
  • Establish a positive, healthy and safe work environment in accordance with all appropriate legislation and regulations

 

Administration
  • Develop and implement annual operational plans which incorporate goals and​ objectives that reflect the strategic directions of the Foundation
  • Work with staff and the Board to prepare a comprehensive budget. Administer the approved budget and report on the monthly cash flow of the organization, monitoring our overall efficiency goal
  • Ensure that sound bookkeeping and accounting procedures are followed
  • Draft policies and procedures for approval by the Board. Provide meeting agendas and supporting materials to the Board. Conduct official correspondence on behalf of the Board as appropriate
  • Ensure that the Foundation complies with all legislation covering taxation and withholding payments and ensure that the Foundation carries appropriate and adequate insurance.

Candidate Qualifications

  • University Degree or Graduate Certificate in Fundraising, Philanthropy, Business or related discipline
  • Minimum 5​ years of direct experience in a fundraising and philanthropic environment​ with experience in volunteer and event management
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation considered to be an asset
  • Experience developing, managing and adhering to budgets. Competence in reading, creating and understanding financial documents including cash flow, budgets, income statements, balance statements and statements of functional expenses.
  • Demonstrated experience using social media for fundraising
  • Familiarity with DonorPerfect or commitment to attaining proficiency in first six months
  • Knowledge of the Grey-Bruce region or rural regional healthcare considered to be an asset
  • Knowledge of investment principles, charitable gift vehicles, tax and estate planning
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to use discretion, judgement and tact in handling sensitive or confidential information and situations

Working Conditions

  • Travel is required; the incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and have use of a car
  • The nature of this full time position is such that evening, and some weekend, work is required
  • A Vulnerable Persons Police Check is a requirement of employment

Salary Range

$72 – $86K including benefits. Based on experience

The Meaford Hospital Foundation is a registered charitable organization that exists to raise and manage funds for the purpose of purchasing capital equipment and building improvements at the Meaford Hospital in support of excellent healthcare for residents of Meaford, its surrounding communities, and visitors to our region. The Foundation, one of 5 Foundations supporting Grey Bruce Health Services, fulfills its purpose by providing and managing donor funds to meet the capital needs of Grey Bruce Health Services.
